Substrate Architecture is proud to deliver Concept, Schematic Design and Design Development in application for funding from New York Homes and Community Renewal. Tilden Commons is a 55,000sf mixed-use Development consisting of twenty-one one bedroom apartments, twenty two-bedroom apartments and approximately 13,000sf of retail. The project is 100% affordable housing at 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The project includes two interior amenity spaces for tenant as well as a courtyard and small park. Through color, symmetry and simple rural detailing, the design emphasizes the strong tradition of the Shaker craft tradition found locally in New Lebanon, NY and surrounding historic communities New England.

Partnering with the New Lebanon Farmers Market and non-profit Hudson River Housing as Co-Developers. If awarded, construction will begin in late 2026/early 2027. Pike Construction is the pre-selected General Contractor and Lamont Engineers has developed a robust civil plan including on-site well and septic processing, 117 parking spaces and a large off-street loading dock.
